Is it Time to Get an iPhone?

Affordable, it is the one word no one has used to describe iPhones in the tons attention it has received. However on top of all the new features, and they are impressive, the price has dropped on the iPhone 3g to a starting price of $199 according to Apples website. One thing to watch out for is the the dock isn’t included with it like the original iPhone they are charging $30 for the the dock which is a huge bummer in my opinion.

Call Quality
The new iPhone 3g makes impressively clear calls. You might not notice it by itself but, side by side tests showed a big difference.

Battery Life
Apple states the iPhone 3G’s battery life is at: 10 / 5 hours talk on GSM / 3G (respectively), 5 hours 3G data, 6 hours WiFi, 24 hours music and 7 hours video. The test reports I have seen prove this out.

Refinements
The earphone connector is now flush with the device, this allows any headphones to work without an adapter. The GPS very fast for a phone and you could even use it to replace a car mounted service.

In Conclusion:

For the money, you’re going to have a hard time finding a better device for two hundred bucks, so if you are in the market for a new smart phone take a look at the new iPhone 3g.

Netbooks Vs. Laptops or Notebooks

With netbooks getting more and more notoriety because of price and portability how do they compare and is one right for you? Netbooks are rugged light weight and easy to carry. If you need a portable and easy to use computer mainly for web access and using word then this might be a good choice for you. Downsides to netbooks are the small screen size, less processing power in favor of portability so you would not be doing video editing on this machine. Also most do NOT come with an optical drive such as a CD or DVD drive, so if you want to watch DVD movies this would not be a good choice for you. Notebooks or laptops are more expensive and heavier however they have much more abilities depending on the model and brand that you get. Here is a little checklist that might help make it a little simpler.
Netbooks

  • Low Cost
  • Small and light
  • Rugged and sturdy
  • Great for internet use and other light applications

Laptops / Notebooks

  • More processing power for wider variety of applications
  • Can play DVDs and use CDs
  • Bigger screen
  • Larger Keyboard for easier typing

I hope this helps you decide what would be a good fit for your computing needs.
